«Barn without grain, people without bread.»
This is how we found the Freixo do Meio. The land was exhausted, and the knowledge was lost. Wheat was the only thing people still knew how to grow here, but the soil was lacking nutrients.
Since then, we never stopped creating soil so that, one day, this essential piece of the wheel may return.
For now, lupine is the reigning legume at Freixo do Meio.
Our mission is to build a community around Herdade Freixo do Meio that is democratic, inclusive, transparent, autonomous, and resilient, that achieves a constantly improving relationship with natural resources, and that encourages personal development.
